The OSCE Mission to Skopje organized a series of events to help prepare for the implementation of a new criminal procedure law, which came into effect on 1 December.
The events, organized in co-operation with the national Academy for Judges and Public Prosecutors and the US Embassy, took place throughout 2013 and consisted of training days and discussion forums for some two-hundred judges, prosecutors, attorneys and police officials, to help facilitate the exchange of knowledge and opinions.
The new criminal procedure is expected to positively affect the quality of justice, for example by transferring the investigation to the competences of the prosecution and abolishing the institute of investigative judge.
