OSCE Mission, Education Ministry, launch education legislation website

The OSCE Mission to Skopje, together with the Ministry of Education and Science, launched a series of presentations in Struga on 17 November 2011 to promote a new website providing easy access to education-related legislation.

The website offers laws, by-laws and rulebooks related to primary, secondary, and higher education. It also offers up-to-date information on ongoing legislative initiatives.

The objective of the website is to provide clear and accurate information on the law to educators, municipal staff, and to members of parents’ councils. Regional presentations will be held in seven different locations across the country, until the end of the year, to introduce the website’s features.

“The website aims to avoid misunderstandings that have previously arisen due to a lack of access to information, particularly in relation to the equal educational rights of all ethnic groups in the country,” said Ambassador Natalya Drozd, the Deputy Head of the OSCE Mission to Skopje.

The website was created with the financial support of Germany.

“Open access to legislative documents on education contributes to equality among members of all ethnic and social groups in the country,” said Walter Leuchs, the Deputy Ambassador of Germany to the country.

The webpage is currently being extended with international legislation and case law from European countries. It is accessible at the following addresses: www.edulaws.mk, www.eduligje.mk, and www.eduzakoni.mk.
